The SCTA Next Gen is heading to Uganda! Join us on our first origin trip to discover coffee production in the Pearl of Africa!
Uganda is an important exporter of both Arabica and Robusta coffee, with many large and international trade houses operating across the country. Through the support of SCTA members, this trip will offer an unparalleled opportunity to visit some of the largest and most important coffee operations in Uganda, covering Arabica and Robusta from east to west. The trip will include visits to washing stations and mills, dedicated cupping sessions and crop tours, and, especially exciting for Next Gen, visits to Proteen and Elucid projects – winners of our 1st and 2nd annual Sustainability Contest! Join us for a truly “full circle” and unforgettable experience!

The cost of the trip is 1500 CHF without VAT (VAT applied to Swiss companies only), to be made in two payments – 1000 CHF at time of registration, and 500 CHF due after 13 February. This covers transportation within Uganda, lodgings, and meals from Saturday arrival (14 March) to Saturday (21 March) departure. Participants are responsible for covering all costs related to transport to and from Uganda and costs related to visas. Additionally, any costs associated with the optional Sunday trip are not included in the 1500 CHF price and will need to be covered by the participant.
In the case that we do not meet the minimum number of participants to host the trip (10), we will inform all registered participants at latest 13 February, and the initial payment amount of 1000 CHF will be refunded.
We will inform all registered participants at latest 13 February if we have sufficient participation (minimum 10 people) to host the trip. Therefore, we ask that registered participants do not book flights before the trip is explicitly confirmed by the SCTA Next Gen. The SCTA Next Gen does not accept to reimburse anything other than funds paid directly to us in the case of cancellation.
Most international travelers will require a visa to enter Uganda. In the case that you need to apply for a visa, we ask that you apply for a tourist visa. UGACOF, in partnership with the SCTA Next Gen, will supply invitation letters as needed.
This event is designed and intended for coffee professionals only. Maximum 2 participants per company may attend. We reserve the right to decline and reimburse registrations. We reserve the right to amend the tentative schedule as deemed necessary.
